Donation Designations
You may want to
designate your gifts to a specific project or ministry. Charitable
giving in Canada is guided by government regulations administered by
the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. One key principle applied to all
charitable giving is that when a donor designates a gift for a specific
purpose, the organization must use it for that purpose or return the
gift to donor. Balancing this principle is a second key principal that
donors must designate their gifts to projects and ministries already
approved by the responsible Board of the charitable organization.
If you are
interested in supporting the work of specific New Direction people,
designating funds for one of our satellite groups (e.g. Ottawa,
Windsor, St. Catherines), or learning about the current special
projects we are working on, please contact the New Direction National
office. We would be happy to apply your gift to the area of your
particular interest.
Each contribution that is
designated towards a board-approved program or project will be used as
designated with the understanding that when the need for such a program
or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason
determined by the board, the remaining restricted contributions
designated for such program or project will be used where needed most. If you do not
specify a designation, your donations will be used on programs and
projects that are approved by the board.
