"New Direction is an innovative project that courageously speaks to an issue that divides many in the faith communities of Canada. Some choose to ignore the matter; others follow the cultural lead. This organization provides an alternative to these polarities. For over twenty years New Direction has been a haven of hope and healing for scores of people struggling with same gender attraction.
At the same time it has been a virtually unique resource for the church. An essential element of the gospel is the call to exercise hospitality - to create a safe place- to make room. This is at the heart of what New Direction does. This ministry is well able to equip faith communities to carry out the mandate of hospitality to a group that deeply needs what the church has to offer.
Under the energetic and visionary leadership of its current Executive Director, Wendy Gritter, New Direction is entering a new phase of its work with an expanded role in providing leadership on this issue for the church in Canada. Its message - rooted in the gospel and alert to the culture - inspires a commitment to compassion and action that will make a tremendous impact.
The growth and expansion that is in the current vision of New Direction cannot be accomplished without the support of many in the Christian community who catch the vision and help us to make a difference."
