For those books that focus on an individual's personal journey, we would encourage readers to discern which insights are useful and helpful and to recognize that some insights may not apply in all situations. We would also caution against projecting any theory or experience as a blanket answer to unique and individual journeys. In particular, New Direction's understanding of the question of causation is that many different factors may have played a predisposing role in the experience of same-gender attraction; and that these different factors affect different people to different degrees.
