The books and websites listed below may contain helpful insights to better understand the complex journey of navigating faith and sexual identity.  We would encourage readers to discern which insights are useful and helpful and to recognize that some insights may not apply in all situations.  We caution against projecting any theory as a blanket answer to unique and individual experiences.

New Direction's understanding on the question of causation is that many different factors may have played a predisposing role in the experience of same-gender attraction; and that these different factors affect different people to different degrees.  Some of the books presented below may represent a different approach to issues of causation.
